how long from pre-surgical class to surgery
Hey all!! I have my presurgical class on August 5th, I have been told that my surgical site is going to be TEGH...so at least I know that part, I dont have a surgeon as of yet. I know that my consult with a surgeon will now be done by video (I am near kingston), I was just wondering, on average, how long it took from your pre-surgical class til the surgery. Ive been doing this since February, getting anxious lol
Hi,
That is really exciting! I can't answer your question but wanted to let you know I am rooting for you to get in soon! I am going through Ottawa and am waiting for a call for a date for pre surgery class. I was told to wait 2 months. I think in a week or two I may call and ask. I am interested to read the responses you get! Good luck and congratulations on getting this far...sooo soon!!!

1st referral-June 2014, sent back and resubmitted September 2014. Wrong referral-medical not surgical. December 22-Surgical Referral sent in.
March 2, 2015-Orientation session; April 8, 2015-Blood work completed; May 12, 2015-Intake appointment; July 24, 2015 Dietician/Behaviourist; August 26, 2015 Pre-surgery class; September 21, 2015 Meet the surgeon; SURGERY NOVEMBER 13, 2015
I went for my presurgical class then was given the date for my appointment with the surgeon for one week later. At the appointment (which was done over the computer at Kingston Hotel Dieu I was given the first available date for surgery which was one month later. I will be having my surgery the same date you have your presurgical class. Mine is also at TEGH. The reason you don't know which surgeon is because Dr Aartz and another doctor do the Gastric Bypasses and you will be assigned to one ( who interviews you and answers questions) but it will depend on your surgery date which doctor does it. I was interviewed by Dr Aartz ( a women!) and when I said I would take the first available date no matter when it was she looked at the schedule and said, "Oh I am in the OR that date- I will be doing your surgery". She was VERY personable and seems to have great bedside manner and really care. I feel like I am in good hands. I would say reasonable you have a month and a half to two months before surgery. Trust me things will move VERY fast now. I think I had my appointment with surgeon and it was less than two weeks before I started Optifast. It moved SO quick for me.
Congratulations on reaching this point- you are just about there!!
Oh wow!!! that is wonderful news!!! I am so anxious, nervous, and excited all at the same time to start my new journey in life. I seen that there was a woman surgeon on the bariatric team at TEGH!!! good luck on your surgery i will definitely be thinking of you next wednesday :)
