but am I understanding the essay and following posts to suggesting dieting isn't a part of a post-op lifestyle?

Hi there, I'm not sure who your questions was directed at, but if your question is directed to me about something I've written, then no, that's not what i've meant at all, sorry if anything i've writtten was unclear.  My use of the term 'diet' was meant purely to refer to those times in our lives where we wake up and say "today i'm on a diet".  A diet could be something well-known like WW or something a person tries on their own, like just counting calories on myfitnesspal.  But usually 'diets' (when used as a noun) refer to a temporary change in eating behaviour to create a state of weight loss - and this is how i've used the term throughout my responses.  I personally never said anything about not needing to change the way we eat from pre-op habits to post-op.  That to me is a given.  If your question was directed to someone else, my apologies....
