Cream of Wheat

trying out things to prepare for post op. Discovered after you make a pkt of Cream of Wheat (1/2 cup water) throw it in the mic for a minute it comes out very dense and tasteless. Throw in half a premier protein chocolate shake  after it's cooled for a minute and yumm! Way to much food for one sitting, wrap it up and eat it for breakie the next day.

Do you have any CoW tips?

No cream of wheat tips from me I'm afraid - not a fan since it's pure carbs (adding the protein certainly helps though). I realize it's likely on your post-op food plan as it's easy on the gut post-gastric surgery in general, but really not something you want to be eating past the 2 week mark.

i did the same thing while in the hotel i had the premier protein shake in vanilla and when i made my cream of wheat it was tasteless so to boost my protein amount i put a little premier protein shake in for flavour

I agree with Karen, I skipped the cream of wheat thing on my doctor's post-op list. I also skipped the mashed potatos, etc that were on there. I took in mostly soup, I think. A bit later on I went to mashed veggies - carrots, cauliflower, etc. Even now my NUT says I should incorporate more carbs into my diet. I just smile and nod and continue doing what I'm doing.

Oh, I was all over the mashed potatoes when I could have them. That lasted for about a week. LOL

LOL! For me, potatoes are a very slippery slope and I know to just avoid them. I'll eat them first if they're on a plate and I'll sit there until the plate is empty and then go back for more, lol. I don't know what it is about them, but I realize they're a weakness and avoid avoid avoid. :)
