Premier protein bars vs shakes? Opinions pls

I tried the protein bars for the first time today and they are good. They also have 30 grams of protein. Is anyone eating these instead of drinking the shakes? Or even doing both? I am wanting to eat more protein going forward as suggested by my center.

Thanks!

The thing about the bars is that while they have 30 grams protein, they also have approximately 25 grams of carbohydrates. When in my losing phase, I kept carbs between 30-35 grams per day (I still eat low carb and credit that, along with other "eating rules" I have, to my long-term success with this whole WLS business. Eating your protein is great - chicken, fish, beef, pork, eggs. I see protein bars as glorified chocolate bars.

Jimmy Fallon agrees with me:

My bariatric centre is at Guelph, and their policy is to not recommend protein powders, drinks or bars. However, realistically, being 8 months out, having a quick source of close to awesome protein when I am out and about--that does not need chilling for food safety reasons...warm chicken, shrimp anyone?...without carrying a lunch pail... (Where is my Wonder woman lunchpail???) means yes, a protein bar. After doing a bit of research, (asking the nice fellow at my campus GNC type store), & watching the forum, I have come up with a top 3. High in protein, around 20 grams each, low in carbs (compared to all others in this category). I actually eat 1/2 bar serving when I do. My choice, not everyone's, but thought I would share.

They are:

Combat Crunch (higher in fibre, best price, new)

Quest (so many varieties, wow, usually you can mix a box of 12 in store)

Pure Protein (Costco)

Its a beauty day, have a great weekend everyone!

My center is Windsor but surgery was in Guelph. My center is fine with protein shakes, the Premier ones, b/c they have good nutritional info and excellent protein. They are also not fans of bars, BUT I think these have the same nutritional value of their shakes, which is 30G per shake/bar........these bars are new but have to confirm all the nutiritional info is the same

Thanks to both of you. These are new bars from Premier, the same ones who make the shakes. I am trying to find the nutritional info but can't get it right now. They have 30 grams of protein, just like the shakes.....if they have the same nutritional value as the shakes, I would think they'd be good????? They were sampling them at Costco yesterday and they were good! I was thinking of doing the shakes and bars, but only if the bars have the same nutritional info as the shakes. Have either of you tried the bars or seen them yet? I just saw them yesterday

I will have to check that out too. Wow, 30 grams of protein per bar!

re : Pure protein bar-Chocolate peanut butter!

I checked the one I have in my drawer as a sample I bought to try, an individual serving at a GNC type store. (Not from a big box at Costco!) I would eat only half of the bar, only on an emergency basis!

Stats:

50 gram size.

20 g protein

2 g sugar

16 g carbs

6 g fat

------------>Not so bad...I think...but I am still new here..;)

beauty day again...have a good one...

Premier protein bars are not new, they've been around for years. I gave you an idea of the stats, but take a look at their web site and check them out. 26 grams of carbs is not okay.

Tbeau is saying these are new bars with 30 grams of protein? I know they have been around for years, but are they not around 20-22 grams of protein? Wondering if this is a new line?

Premier has had 30 gram bars for at least 4 years when I first saw them at Costco.  They may have a new flavour but the bars with 30 grams are not new at all.
