"Orphaned" by the Bariatric system?

Contact him anyway.  He could still be a good advocate.

What about this group, I know they are in the US but maybe they can give you some ideas on how to approach this situation.  http://www.obesityaction.org/bariatric-surgery-follow-up-its-important.

The old saying of the squeeky wheel.  It does work but it also does take a lot of work sometimes.

I meant to add earlier about the blood work - I have never had to pay for blood work. My family doctor writes "due to pre-existing condition" or something similar on the requisition so anything that may have an additional cost, is covered by OHIP. The only test I've ever had to foot the bill for was req'd by my arthritis specialist (and I gave him hell about that lol).

Your doctor is going to have to help you navigate the system, but your input and suggestions to him can only help.

I can't offer advice on how to circumvent the red tape, but I was referred for surgery by the Wharton Medical Clinic. They have several locations... Maybe you could go to one? They can offer some level of care and will be better than getting obesity care from a family doctor that doesn't specialize in obesity.

But, hopefully you can kick some arse and get the system to work the way it is supposed to. I'm sorry you have been abandoned.

Any point attending one of the TWH group sessions and speaking up there? Squeaky wheel...

I don't think that would be appropriate. "Squeaky wheel" is one thing, commandeering a support meeting specifically for TWH patients with your own very unique agenda is another.

Not something I would do. It's not in my nature to seek out the spotlight. That's why after a TWH orientation session I spoke privately with a couple team members stating I was pursuing a DS and not an RNY and they helped by recommending my transfer to Hamilton.

I realize you wouldn't do that - my response was to the person who suggested you do it. ;)

I know you directed that are the original poster, but I just wanted to reassure you that I definitely would not do it, heh.

I try not to bring attention to myself in group settings like that. I'm the observant type. Probably always will be, lol.

Thanks for the kind words and the suggestion. It would be nice to see the healthcare system that is supposed to be amazing work the way it should, heh.

I don't think I'm asking too much to see someone who is familiar with the DS and whom I was led to believe would be seeing me.

I will keep the WMC information on hand if nothing else appears to pan out.

Really I just want to know to what extent my health has declined so that I know what can be done to resolve issues or prevent further issues.
