I had the sleeve gastrectomy done in June of 2014, have lost 135 lbs, I have maintained my weight for 1 1/2 years now, but am having absolutely no luck with having anyone even put in a request to OHIP to do the panniculectomy.  2 doctors have told me to come back when my BMI is under 30, and one absolutely refuses to contemplate it if he has to go through OHIP.  One surgeon said to me, eat less, join a gym, hire a personal trainer and come back and see me when your BMI is under 30.  In order for me to hit a BMI under 30 I would have to lose another 50+ lbs which would bring me to the weight I was at 15 years old (not much to me then).  At 15 I wasn't even fully grown yet.

Sent an email to the Bariatric Centre in Toronto in May, no reply, sent an email to the Minister of Health, no reply.  Now ready to go to the media, am absolutely devastated at the politics that are taking place.

Hi, just wanted to check in now thats its been a year since your procedure..I'm scheduled for mine next week..EEK..pretty excited and a little nervous..Looking for any tips and words of wisdom..My surgeon does not use binders, however after everything i have researched i'm going to purchase one and use it.

It took me 2 tries to get approved with 2 different surgeons..the second time he was so much more compassionate than the first.. who i happen to believe was looking to make 44 and ddint care if i was approved or not..This time, it took 8 months and additional info having to be sent to ohip, but he got me approved!!

looking forward to hearing from you, or anyone else who has gone through this process :)

Hi Kristina,

I am in the process of starting my OHIP approval and I have a few questions becsuse I noticed we are both from Ontario. I?m hoping you still use this account and can get back to me ..

I noticed you said your surgeon was Dr Hagen? Can you please give me more information on where he?s located so that I can contact him/her? I?m really scared to have a bad surgery and your the only one who seems to be from my area. I would really appreciate it !!
