After a year of going back and fourth with myself about whether or not I should go ahead with weight-loss surgery, I finally made my appointment with my family Dr to get a referral.. I was nervous and scared to bring it up to him because I was not sure what his reaction was going to be and whether or not he would be on board... So I went into his office and I told him what I wanted and he smiled and said he would send the referral out.. No questions asked .. nothing !! He seemed happy that i had come to him.. Now I wait 😀

Good for you. It was the best decision for me, believe me. If for some reason you change your mind, you aren't committed but you owe it to yourself to find out. I was one year to the date of orientation to surgery. No real issues that stopped it but some centres get through quicker for some reason. I also had to travel 2 hrs to my centre, then 1.5 hrs the other way to the hospital. I think some of it depends on time of year also, fiscal years etc.  You'll get lots of info on this site and I wish you good luck! Although waiting is hard, it flies, believe me.

Excellent attitude, T - everyone owes it to themselves to investigate options for better health!

Thank you :) I've done a lot of research and although the wait sucks I know to expect it , and I just keep looking at it this way .. My youngest is 6 months old , so it will just be easier on me in a year from now when he's walking and is able to spend a few days away from home so I can recover from surgery !! So it's kind of a good thing , butt if I was offered the surgery tomorrow i definitely wouldn't turn it down lol ...

Thank you , I will be in the Windsor centre, not too sure where surgery will be (if I end up getting approved after everything.. Fingers crossed)

6 months and 111 lbs later, I do not regret my decision. Take the waiting time to learn more about the different types of surgeries and read up on eating habits you should change, start journaling your food, learn about dumping and hair loss and vitamin regimes. Best of luck!
