Is it ok to lose weight pre-op?
It seems part of the criteria for bariatric surgery is failed attempts to lose weight on your own. I realize I will be going through a lot of changes after surgery, so I want to do what I can pre-op to lessen the blow. In cutting out sugar, unhealthy carbs, and saturated fat... I have started losing some weight.
obviously none of you are going to give me the green light for the surgery... But any ideas if this would count against me? I am inclined to think it shows I have my head on straight... But as I mentioned in another post, I have generalized anxiety disorder and literally worry about everything.

They encourage you to lose weight throughout the process. It shows your willingness to make change and commitment to the process. The only potential problem is if you go under a BMI of 40 without comorbidities or 35 with two or more comorbidities before you've been officially weighed at the start of the process.
Awesome! Thank you, and best wishes for surgery.
