Time from appt with doc to surgery date

anyone who has worked through Ottawa....generally how much time passes from appt. with surgeon to surgery date?  Perhaps there isn't a set pattern.  Do you get the date from the surgeon or the WLC? 

My timeline will give you more info, but basically I met with the surgeon early February and I got a call with a date in mid-March.  About 5 weeks later.  Surgery was April 23rd.
