OPTI
I hope it's yummy for you. For me it was like trying to drink road-kill. ;) If you DO end up disliking it, buy yourself a bottle with a lid/built in straw. It will cut back on the smell and that's a HUGE help. Experiment with flavourings (do NOT try Lemon flavours - just trust me on this one), like Mio, Crystal Light, extracts, etc. Also play with the consistency, try making it thinner or thicker it helps for some people.
In the end, I just ended up chugging them as fast as I could then sipping broth or having some sugar-free jello afterwards.
Best of luck. Remember - this is a short-term situation and the benefits of it FAR outweigh anything negative. :)

I was terrified too but soon discovered I really enjoyed mine with a bit of mint mixed in.Without it tasted like uncooked cake batter. I never got to 4 a day but was usually able to tolerate 3 per day. I had no terrible side effects and it really wasn't that bad in the end Good-Luck

I'm on day 5 right now (3 weeks). The flavours (for me) are not that bad. The chocolate is better.... I think. I have added flavours like peppermint, cinnamon and davinci syrups. The syrups def makes them sweeter but I think it helps hide the vitamin taste. To me the Opti it self is easy. The hunger you have the first few days is intense and I have also had stomach issues. I am told it should pass. I am down 13lbs in 5 days..... Which is crazy but I honestly feel like it has been all water. My only negative comment about Opti is its ingredients it is full of aspartame which I have always tried to avoid. I am sure that is what is upsetting my stomach. Anyways, it's all good.... Don't be afraid! :)
I'm on day 8 of Optifast (of 3 weeks). Weighed myself this morning and lost 11 lbs in the first week. At first I hated it, and didn't know how I would do it. But, since then, I've incorporated crushed ice, a bit more water, strawberry/banana flavoring, and now, believe it or not, I find it delicious! I haven't had any slips ups, have stuck to it very faithfully, and am excited for the next 2 weeks to go by. Surgery is June 9 at Toronto Western Hospital with Dr. Timothy Jackson. Excited, nervous, happy!
Hey there! Looks like we're both almost a couple weeks post op! How are you feeling? I had Timothy Jackson at TWH. He was amazing! I was in hospital for 2 days, walking around the unit 3 hours after surgery, and feel fantastic today! I'm melting away, and haven't had any issues so far! I'm very blessed.
