The real deal: body after surgery.
Oh, I can be pretty testy too at times. LOL

I think your questions are reasonable ones and I am sorry that you felt judged. I do find this place very judgey at times which is why I stick to other forums for support. Let's face it, most of us have issues with food and the fact that we like it too much, otherwise we wouldn't be here. I have wondered about pasta as well. I like Pasta once in a while and wanted to know if I could have it after surgery. I don't drink so I can't answer that but I can say that through all of my appointments, they have advised that you can drink but that it will affect you quicker and it doesn't sound generally suggested. They have also mentioned the fact that there is a higher risk of increased drinking after the surgery because people can transfer one addiction to another. So that is enough to keep me away.
If you would like info on another forum that is great, send me a message and I will be happy to share.
Hi kat. Don't let Karen get to you. She is a 9 year veteran who had her surgery before all the orientations and extra supports for WLS patients were in place. Forum nanny and thinking she knows better sums it up. Ironically, the hanging/excess skin issue will be covered at orientation. During my orientation the facilitator even had photos of before and after and threw out some numbers for plastic surgery costs estimates for down the line
As for pasta, I am 6 months out. I lost 20 pounds on 4 weeks of opti and have since lost another 80 pounds. I have had a bite of my husband's pasta and breads but never a full serving. I started this at 3 months out. I don't miss it and any more than a bite makes me uncomfortable.
As for alcohol, my centre recommends one year alcohol free after surgery. I know a gal a few years out who has 3-6 oz of wine every now and then and she is fine with it. I plan on never drinking again. Hehe. I don't miss it and I am afraid of dumping syndrome.
Anyway, I hope this helps you. Again they will go over all this with you at orientation. Any questions feel free to send me a private message.
Take care!
Shirley
As someone waiting for Orientation, I also wonder about post surgery excess skin. But I have found supportive answers on this forum. And I have back-tracked through previous posts and learned things I had not even considered.
Because of this forum, I will have many questions for my Orientation, that I would not have even considered.
I also check posts out on Pinterest WLS boards, but I really appreciate this site because it is for Ontario people.
I hope to get my Orientation appointment soon (August?). Keep up with the questions and good luck with the process.
