Family Dr. wont refer me for WLS
It is disheartening that your family dr refused to refer you...referring is easy, it wouldn't be up to the family doctor to approve you for the surgery, it's up to the surgeon and the bariatric team you would have (nurse, dietician, social worker, etc) They are the ones that would determine if you are a good candidate or not. Hope you can find a way to get the referral in and see if in fact you do qualify? There is a lot to consider for this...as mentioned, you need to show you've attempted to lose weight on your own first, you need to be smoke free for 6 months, and you need to have a BMI over 40 or 35 if you have comorbidities (e.g. sleep apnea, diabetes), there is a waiting period as well...it starts with orientation, then your first appts with the nurse/social worker/dietician, then around 4 - 6 weeks later second set of appts, making sure you're making the changes/recommendations they've set for you, then if all good, they'll green light you for the post-op class, possibly other tests, etc, then after the class, you wait to meet the surgeon, he/she will be the one to make the final decision in regards to your surgery. Wishing you luck on your journey!
Moving on doesn't mean you forget about things. It just means you have to accept what happened and continue LIVING
