Good morning :)

What gorgeous weather out there - perfect weekend weather :) No "must do's" today but I want to hit up Michael's for colouring pencils (apparently, and I can completely understand why, adult "colouring books" and the like have become very popular stress-management tools and I'm all for that), want to finish weeding the garden (ugh, but almost done), trip to Crappy Tire, we'll see what else the day brings!

- coffee with cream x 4 over the day -

B - Premier protein shake (remembered I had some sugar-free raspberry syrup and added a shot - meh.)

S - Source Greek (cherry), a few grapes

L - 1/2 toasted bacon and tomato sandwich, full sour dill

S - not sure yet, either a Chike protein iced coffee or.... well, I don't know "or", so I'll go with the Chike lol

D - 3-4 oz. BBQ chicken breast, skewered grilled veggies tossed with olive oil & spices and topped with a little feta when done, tzatziki for dipping

S - coffee/diet iced tea

Have a great day!

K. :)

Karen,

I bought myself a few coloring books from Michael's pre-op to keep me busy when I had cravings. Since having surgery, they've helped me relax and keep my focus elsewhere. Great tools for me.

Enjoy!

It's great to hear how many others are using colouring - another tool in the toolbox :)

I didn't buy a book yet, just the pretty (ungodly expensive) pencils but my friend turned me onto the mandala web site where you can print them off for free - http://printmandala.com/

2.5 weeks post op

Tanya you amaze me with the amount of steps you take each day!!! When I read you did 20000+ last week I was dumbfounded!!! LOL  I was doing about 2000 a day before surgery and yesterday I actually did 5902 !!! I was so pleased with myself....and I will continue to build on that.  Thank you for the inspiration :)

Going to plant the flowers in their pots today and watch my hubby turn the garden soil

Yesterdays menu was too much for me....I ended up having protein drink for lunch instead of the soup and crackers I had planned and also cut out 1 snack.....just didn't need/want it.  So the menu I plan in the morning doing my fitness pal, is still more than I can eat right now......so I adjust LOL

Chrissy, I'm glad you mentioned that what you're listing is not what you're actually able to consume as I was thinking that it seemed like a lot of food for someone who had surgery 3 weeks ago.

Please give me your opinions on my menu or the amounts I am eating....I really appreciate them.  I am not eating more than 1 cup of soup, or 3/4 cup of anything else at any meal....but I notice my calorie count is now getting between 800-1100 but I feel so much better.  I was eating too many saltines I think....so I have adjusted that to a max of 5 per day, from 10.  I would love if you could look it over and make any suggestions?  Thanks

Hi Chrissy,  I had saltines for two days and found they just made me want more saltines.  So I have cut them out.  I am trying to keep my carbs low.  I am focusing on the protein, and moving away from the soups that have more carbs than I want now.  Carbs were always my downfall, I loved bread, pasta, rice, chips ect. It is easy right now to eat the good foods because I really don't get hungry.  And I am finding, now that I eat so little, I really want it to taste good, and be a healthy choice.  More bang for the buck!

Your amounts (volume) seem high to me for 2.5 weeks post-op and correspondingly your calories (not that I counted those, just protein and carbs). What does your centre's plan list for amounts? 1 cup, 3/4 cup is a lot at this point. Maybe check over your sheet? I'd be interested to read what it says.
