I have not tried the Premier Protein yet but having a hard time with Boost with protein.  How does the Carnation Instant Breakfasts (powder) mixed with milk compare?  I am still in consulting stages.

I just looked at the nutrition for their essentials. With 7 gr of sugar and only 5 grams of protein they would not be suitable. Premier I believe has 30 grams of protein. For protein powders and drinks you want the most amount of protein for your calories and as little sugar as possible.

There is a no added sugar one that either my center or or the hospital had on the list of allowed things. I think for the liquid phase. .

The one I looked up said it was sugar free but still had some. I still think it is too little protein to be worth using. If you are trying to get in 60 grams of protein a day you would have to drink a heck of a lot of it. Even adding milk is not going to up the protein enough.

Better to try an actual protein shake. Try some of the ones at GNC or try some powders. The bulk barn sells protein powder so you can try a small amount.

Check out the what are you eating thread. You will see some shakes there as well

Even the no sugar added has 7 grams of sugar. When you mix it with milk, it has 18 grams of sugar. Way too much. There are much better protein shakes out there. I like Muscle Milk sugar free. 0 grams of sugar and 15 grams of protein.

There are hundreds and hundreds of protein shakes out there to choose from that are high quality protein, low sugar, low carb. Both Carnation Instant Breakfast and Boost with Protein are NOT in that category.

Because I am lactose intolerant, I was given an alternative to Optifast for my pre-op diet.  That was 3 shakes a day each one was carnation instant breakfast, lactose free milk and Beneprotein.  It added up to 900 cals a day, so at 300 calories each, it's not an insignificant snack.

I really like Unjury. Chocolate splendor. Tastes like the chocolate milk that I used to drink back in the day. The carnation instant breakfast don't have enough protein. Good luck.
