The Waiting!!!

Referral Aug 2014, orientation at HRRH. Jan 26/15. I have studied and read, and made diet changes, moving more,   gathered vitamins, researched everything!!! You all understand! Just venting!   Thanks for listening......

It sounds like you're doing everything you can do!  It is frustrating with all the waiting.  Let's hope that by next year at this time we can look back and say that the wait was worth it!!

The waiting is the worst.. You just want to get on with it and start the next chapter of your life.  We can all relate.  Hang in there.  It'll creep up on you before you know it.  

Hi! 

This is my very first post with OH :)  I'm in Nova Scotia and there aren't any active forums that I can find for the maritime provinces, so I hope you don't mind me joining in with all of you!  I received a letter in August stating that I was one of 50 people selected to attend the WLS Information Session, it stated that this is the first step in the process of being approved for WLS.  They are quite vague with the process here.  I guess I'll have to wait until June 30th to find out more.  I've waited this long!  Seems like forever!  Now the countdown to the info session is on.... just 8 more weeks!  Eeeeek!  I have been educating myself as much as possible and will be attending some workshops in the area to focus on stress management, emotional eating, and behaviour change strategies.  These workshops are free and they are put on by our local community health teams. 

If you have suggestions of other forums you think I may benefit from or enjoy socially, please let me know!  Thanks!

Welcome! This is a fabulous site to learn lots in prep for your surgery. Unfortunately you may find differences in the process out there vs. what you hear on the Ontario Forum but I'm sure following along here will help you prepare for some of the things you might encounter. Welcome!!  From an "original bluenoser" this is the best board to be on, most active and has the most successful Canadian WLS members you will learn a lot from the oldtimers here.

Don't get frustrated with the NS wait and the speed you see the Ontario folks flying through. Keep your eye on the prize and know it will eventually happen for you too!

Welcome to the board LCNZ.  We may not be able to help you with specific information regarding your clinic, Drs, or the NS process, but there is lots of information on here with everything else.  You're not the only person on this forum not from Ontario.

As for other sites, there is an Obesity Help page on Facebook, and you might find some WLS groups there as well.  Check at your clinic to see if there are any support groups in your area, those can be a great source of support, and may be able to share some resources from your area.

I had my orientation at hrrh on April 24th, it's only been 2 weeks and the wait is already killing me! 

I got so sick of waiting for HRRH -- Orientation in August, still nothing by October -- that I ended up asking for a transfer to Toronto Western.  Best decision of my life.  

Hopefully HRRH has managed to catch up on all the backlog.  It was pretty bad in the summer.
