I don't have a date for surgery yet but I am thinking it might happen before October. We have a trip to disney booked in October. If I have surgery this summer or fall how long should I wait to go to Disney, would 10 months post op be ok? We are thinking of moving our trip to March 2016.

You would probably be okay two or three months after surgery. You just want to make sure you're well healed and have your energy back. I was travelling for work at the two month mark. Brought my own snacks. But if you also want to benefit from the weight loss after surgery, then yes, nine or ten months would have you well on your way!

have fun!

For insurance purposes you may want to get your surgeon to sign off if you choose to leave the province within three months of surgery. You can always call your clinic to see what they recommend :)

I ended up going to Disney 3 months after surgery and was concerned about traveling so soon after surgery but I didn't need to be.  The rooms at Disney all have a small fridge and you can order groceries delivered to the room for your arrival.  I made sure there were some options in the room like fruit, veggies, cheese and cold meat.  I brought ziplocks and would pack some snacks with me to take into the park for the day as hunger (my new version of hunger, which at that time was similar to nausea) could come on suddenly and the food lineups can be long with few/expensive options.  I was with my hubby and daughter so when we needed to eat in the park I would often not order a meal but just share their meals.  I also brought protein powder with me and had a shake to begin each day.  This worked well to ensure that I was getting a significant amount of protein to begin my day.

Have a great time!

one more thing - I specifically asked my surgeon about travel restrictions as I had to travel to the US for work at 6 weeks out and she advised as a standard there are no restrictions after the surgery although each case is different.

great question! I was thinking the same thing.....we want to go to Disney either this fall or in the spring.  I just had surgery this week so want to make sure I can do everything I want and still get some nutritional food in!

I travelled to Mexico 3 weeks later. Had no issues but it's not Disney either.

Yes I wonder if there would be ride restrictions and when it would be safe to ride roller coaster. Then comes getting enough fluids and nutrition.
