Delays, delays, delays......

So in my previous post, I had updated that I had my Nurse Practioner Appointment and as per my sleep study results, she wanted to get the information on the results after my follow-up with the respirologist.  So I went on April 20, 2015 to him and he advised that I need a CPAP machine. If I wasn't having the surgery, I would not need the mask but because I am having the surgery, I need the mask to make sure that my breathing is okay during the surgery. I wasn't too impressed but I am not the professional and therefore the CPAP is on order.

My follow-up Sleep Study with the mask is on June 28, 2015, which means that I won't have my follow-up with the respirologist until probably mid-late July and then I have to wait again to get an appointment with the Nurse which could be into August or September.

At this rate, I won't be having my surgery until October, November or even December which sucks huge. I was hoping to have my surgery in August UGH!!

What are the chances of having my surgery before October with this timeline?

If you are near the sleep study location, ask them to put you on a cancellation list.  When I needed a new sleep study 4 years ago, they put me on a cancellation list and I got in within 3 days as I was available with short notice.

I understand your frustrations, I. Am waiting on my prescription for a CPAP machine so I can get mine. It's the only thing holding me back from moving to meet surgeon.

I know it may not be what you want but if you have surgery in October thats will be 10 months from orientation which is great. Try to be happy with that as there are others who are waiting longer than a year for surgery.

i have sleep apnea and have a cpap machine but 10 months is pretty good if you get surgery by October.  I was referred in the beginning of August, orientation in november, 2014.  nothing until i got my surgeon appt beginning of march,2015 we are now entering may and that is as far as I've gone.  i do have my appointments set up for nurse, dietician and sw for next week but that was after i called to ask them to bump it up as they had booked me for june.  this is for humber location .. so its a really long process and you have gotten through more than I already.  it will hopefully move smoothly with no more delays for you.  i too am hoping for no more long delays.  good luck to you

Is your sleep study at a hospital?? That may be the reason for the longer in between times. Call a sleep clinic and they usually have openings quicker.
