Hi everyone, its been a few years since I've been on this site, lots of family issues. Anyways, I'm back looking for the best Dr to do revision surgery. Years ago I went to Michigan and met with Dr Pop. and was almost through the process then my father took ill, and everything was put on the back burner, needless to say. No more going to the States. I live in Bowmanville, Ontario. but willing to travel for the best Dr. I know alot go to Humber, would really like to hear from people who have had a revision.. Thank you

Hi Charlene,

Things have changed pretty drastically with respect to bariatric surgery processes. All potential patients must be referred to the Ontario Bariatric Registry by a doctor (family, specialist, etc.) and the registry will assign you to one of the Bariatric Centres. From there, there are several appointments to go through - dietician, nurse practitioner, psych or social work, surgeon, etc. It is a long process but much improved and thorough and has a 5 year follow-up with all of the professionals on the team.

Since you live in Bowemanville, you would be referred to Humber River Regional. The surgeons there are top notch - Hagen, Klein, Starr. Instead of going to the states many years ago, I had surgery at Humber with Dr. John Hagen.

Anyway, I may have just told you a whole bunch of stuff you already know but in case I didn't, here is a link to the registry: http://www.ontariobariatricnetwork.ca/

Karen :)

Edited to add: Sorry, I forgot to ask what kind of a revision you are hoping to have! If you are looking into revising to a DS, you will have to be referred to Dr. Hong in Hamilton.

Hi Charlene, I originally had the dreaded stomach stapling done back in the early 90s and recently (March 24 2015) had a revision RNY done by Dr John Hagan.  He is incredible and has the best bedside manners that most doctors lack.

He works out of Humber River Finch site and has his office in Toronto

I was told that weight loss might be a little slower with a revision but can say that i have lost approximately 25 pounds in a little over a month and feel great.  I weight myself once a week and take my measurements once a week as I noticed the inches are coming off quicker than the weight...odd but true

Anywho, check out Dr H....he is awesome
