Shopping feels Surreal

OK, so I admit, I do have a bit of a shopping problem. I did at 265 lbs, and do now at 160 lbs. I love fashion. I do not need new clothes, and have plenty, but sometimes it does feel good to treat yourself to something new during this journey, something that properly fits! That smells, feels new, and is just new! I find I have extra bounce in my step when I do have on a newly purchased outfit.

So I drive by BCBG yesterday, and did a u turn, and decided to check it out. I go in looking for summer work pants. Knowing this is what I do need. I have enough dresses.

BGBG is not a fit friendly store and tends to run very small. I pick up a size 8 and a size 10, of off white, skinny fit, trousers. YES WHITE :D YES SKINNY FIT.

What I did notice, is while I feel a bazillion times better about myself, I sometimes think somewhere in the back of my head, there is that big girl feeling of "you don't belong in this store. I also find the sales people much nicer to me, which I can't say shocks me at all. My friend said to me last weekend "I don't think you see it. I don't think you realize you are a normal sized woman now"

So back to the story. I try these pants on, and I was swimming in the 10's. I try on the 8's, and again, LOOSE. Comfortable, and I would have went for the 8 if I didn't plan on losing 20 more lbs. I look out, and say to the sales clerk "these are slightly loose, can I get the 6" She looks at me, smiles, as I am sure she could see how I was feeling in that moment, and gives me a double thumbs up.

I couldn't believe it. Size 6. And while it could be vanity sizing, or that specific cut, it could be rare that at 160 lbs I'd fit into a six in other brands, I don't care. Right now I have a beautiful pair of perfectly, fitted, and stylish cream trousers, in that size, awaiting to be worn. Can't wait!

I agree whole heartedly.  Nothing beats great clothes that fit just right.  I may not have many, but love the ones that I do have.

Exactly! I find I am shopping smarter now too, since the weight loss. Its almost as if I can afford to be picky, the selection is much larger.

Single digit sizes! And not in black! Sounds like a great shopping day to me. Good for you!

Hey, I understand where you're coming from!  I'm excited to be buying XXL - I went into Mark's today and bought 3 tops - I start a new job in a week and will need dressier clothing.  It was so nice to go into a store that I couldn't buy anything from 2 months ago.  I have to control myself because I'm dropping weight so fast that I know these will only fit me for the summer, but I just can't help myself!  I don't want to wear baggy falling down pants and too big shirts.  I know that I'm still "big" at 238 lbs, but for me, this is 42 lbs lighter than February!

Congrats on your success thus far! And yes, try to not buy so much. I did when I lost my first 50lbs and I just donated a bunch, some still with tags attached! (Online purchases that I couldn't return) not going to lie, while it did feel good to donate two garbage bags of NEW clothes to the Dress for Success clothing bank, it still did hurt a little that I had wasted so much money for items I hadn't even had a chance to wear, or had only worn once.

Love it !! and I agree ....I'm nowhere near done losing obviously , but I am finding it hard to resist buying ! So I've been frequenting Platos Closet ! Today I bought a pair of rock star skinny jeans for 10 bucks , a size 15 ! ( the jeans ive been wearing lately are a 22 and make me look like a total hobo !) But i also gave away almost all of my closet and literally have nothing to wear ! I also need new scrubs and when I looked in Marks work wear house , I had to try on Medium scrub pants !!!! Cos the large were baggy !!

Anyway , I'm happy for you love :) It is such a good feeling and I really can't wait to ( possibly ) be looking at a 8 or 6 !! Unimaginable to me .

Keep it up sweets
