Iron VERY Low! Supplement Help...
Thanks Karen!
I was at TWH when my level dropped to 67, they talked transfusion but wanted to do one more test in 12 hours before deciding. The next test that evening was 69 so I guess they figured that was fine since it was going up. They let me go home....no follow up, nothing! If it wasn't for me pushing them to check it...nobody seems concerned. I do have a repeat gastroscopy at TWH late next month to see how the marginal ulcers are doing. If they are still bleeding....well I'm fighting a losing battle trying to get the hemoglobin levels up! 😟
i guess time will tell. I just want to find the best supplement available. One with little side effects and hopefully good absorption.
I too have struggled with dangerously low iron levels and tried practically every brand of vitamins on the market. I was weak, lethargic, and could barely get out of bed some days. Thankfully, I met someone online *****commended I try Vita4Life, and I gave them a shot. I was reluctant because I had already spent so much but it's really helping. I know you mentioned you have issues with constipation and I found I do have harder stools with these vitamins, but I am not constipated. My stools weren't hard to begin with though so I'm not sure what your "norm" is like. I take the Multi-Plus formula, and I also take their stand alone Iron product to supplement additional iron. If you are already taking a multi you trust, perhaps just their iron supplement would do? But my ferritin levels were 14 when I started, and they're now up to 87 which is a dramatic improvement. I wish you all the best.
