Appointment Cancelling

I was supposed to have my social work appointment this morning, but yesterday I got a call telling me that hospital had cancelled my appointment and needed to reschedule me.  Does this happen very often?  I was really looking forward to getting the ball rolling.

I am sure it does happen due to unforseen cir****tances such as staff being sick and such.. 

Not often at all.  There are SO many people sick right now it's crazy!  You can always call and see if a cancellation comes up for you to jump back in.  

The ball is still rolling - it just had a speed bump. :)

Waiting til Friday isn't that big a deal, so I'm not super concerned.  I did ask about cancellations for my other appointments when I was talking to the receptionist, and she said that I should keep my date for Nurse Practitioner because they're currently scheduling into September and October.  Does that make sense to you?  Like, why should when they're currently scheduling NP appointments have any bearing on whether or not people before me cancel?
