Hello all,

I am going for my intake appointment and was sent a blood work requisition. I have no idea what it says and therefore do not know if I need to fast or not. I meant to call today but then forgot until 5:20 when of course they were closed! Any ideas? I am thinking I should probably just fast in case it is needed, can't hurt...right?

Hi Molly.  On your requisition there should be the word glucose. Next to it, a box that says random next to it and then a box that says fasting next to it.  Are either one of them checked off? Obviously if the fasting one is marked then you need to fast. I would suggest fasting anyway since its a pain in the ass to have to go back if you should have fasted in the first place. Also, if you go really early you will have a longer wait because all the diabetic patients are fasting and they need to get taken care of first so they can get home to eat breakfast. I've always found going in around 9-9:30 worked for me. Hope this helped. Chris

Hi,

thanks for the response. There are so many boxes and colours but there are no check marks. Under other there is a red stamp that says pre-op. Nothing is checked, that is what confused me! Lol, I think I'll just fast anyways. I am driving from a distance so I will likely get there after the diabetic rush!
