No more messin' around now, I got my date!
Could not be more excited right now! I go May 11 at St. Joseph's Hamilton (exactly 1 month.. ahh!!) and 2 weeks of Optifast. Is there anyone else out there going to be in hospital around that time? I've already been stock piling protein sources (have a lot of good options which I mention in my blog if you're interested), bought a scale all around mentally ready. Thanks to everyone on here so far that has been so helpful with my questions, I look forward to commiserate with you all in a few weeks when I hit the Optifast blues. :)
Thanks again!

Awesome news! I have everything but the Optifast now, need to grab that when I go back for my next appointment.
All the prescribed medication were covered by my insurance so I can't help with that cost unfortunately, but I was able to get all my vitamins from Costco. They have liquid calcium citrate online so I got enough to last the first 6 weeks, and have already been taking the pills for a couple months now which I already bought at Costco and Shoppers. I've probably spent about $125 on vitamins but they are mostly Costco size bottles so they will last a while. I bought a lot of different types of protein (described it all in my last blog post below) in the past few weeks so I don't have to worry about buying afterwards and that was about $200 but not including the protein powder I already had at home. Again, this will all last me quite a long time so it isn't something everyone needs to spend.
II haven't had any luck finding the sugar free Popsicles or Jello they mention to have on optifast, but I've only really looked once and that was at the superstore. I'm sure Zehrs or Sobeys may have better selection.
Good luck with everything and congratulations!
PS I grew up in Welland and now in St catharines, nice to see someone from the area here :-)

Finding sugar-free jello in the ready-made containers is really hit and miss. You can always find and use the boxed sugar-free jello and make it yourself, they're always on the shelf. The sugar-free popsicles are pretty hard to find at times. Hopefully with the weather warming up stores will start carrying them more regularly again. Sugar-free Popsicle brand popsicles were a life saver for me immediately post-op especially.
