Caffeine

I hate to admit it but I've recently started caffeine again. I promised myself that I'd never go back... but alas. What I usually do is add a teaspoon of instant to my protein shake, so it's not really *too* bad... is it? :)

Anyway, has anyone else found that they are super sensitive to the effects of it after RNY? I never used to be. I could drink a whole pot without feeling... anything. Now after just 1 tiny teaspoon, I feel like I'm on a suger rush. Last night I felt almost stoned off 1 coffee! I can't even imagine what alcohol would do to me - not that I'm in a rush to find out, mind you.

I have my 3 month checkup today. Jaxie and I are meeting up around 11 today and going to Toronto (HRRH) together. If anyone else will be there, let us know and we can say hi.

With not having caffeine for a while, your body has lost it's tolerance of it.  So even the little bit can affect you.

Alcohol will be the same first time you drink it (wait a long while before this please) a small amount will have a strong effect.  And you'll have to watch the type of alcohol.  Not all wine causes you to react the same.

Yeah, thankfully I have no intentions of trying alcohol anytime soon. I never had many vices. Never smoked, rarely drank, no drugs... etc. Hell, I've been a bar 5 times in my entire life and each time it was either a birthday party or bachelorette party.  Have a fantastic day!

Hi Seyenna I did decaf whilst on Opti (added a spoon of decaf instant to both the chocolate and vanilla) and didn't have any caffeine until my one month follow up where the dietician said one caffeinated coffee a day would be okay for me.  I must say it does affect me more after RNY.  I wouldn't say super sensitive, but I feel more "up" and sometimes a bit jittery so what I have been doing is having protein 30 minutes before I go to get my coffee and that seems to help take the edge off a bit.  I must admit I am addicted to coffee.  It's terrible but so so good.
