Always a challenge with sizing because of the wide-range.  I'm 5'10".  I'm currently around the  175-180 lb range.  Fair amount of muscle (if I do say so myself).

In terms of pant size, I range somewhere between an 8 and a 12 (usually a 10 is a good starting point in the dressing room...and mostly what I end up with, though it can go in either direction).  Size is mostly because of larger legs -- my calfs are still fairly large -- not surprising given my starting weight, so no skinny jeans for me.

Dress size is usually an 8.

In terms of tops, well, I'm fairly small -- so range anywhere between a small and a medium (depending on cut), or a size 6 or 8.  Again, it's about fit.  I have a long torso...but small rib-cage.  Bra size around top of my rib-cage is a 32 if I measure (but C or D cup...but that's only 'cause of extra flesh!).  Thankfully, the size 34 fits me too ('cause a 32 is very hard to find in bra sizes...little did I know, until I asked for a smaller size than a 34...no can do said the salesperson!)

Anyway, that's my sizing story!  But I can say, it is so much fun to shop now...dangerously so!

My stats:

5 months and 10 days post op /  5'4" tall, 95 lbs pound lost (262 start weight / 167 current weight)

Goal weight 140 lbs

Clothing:

Tops:  Medium (used to wear a XL / XXL)

Pants: size 8 or a size 30 jeans (used to wear an 18 pant)

Dresses: size 8 - (used to be 16 )

I always go by clothing sizes as far as goals, more so than the scale.

I'm 6 days shy of being 9 months post op.

Depending on the doctor, I'm either 6'2" or 6'3" tall (seriously I can never get the same number).

My pre-Opti weight was 365 lb.  My surgery day weight was 355 lbs.  I am currently 235 lbs.

MY goal weight is 200 lbs (the Centre's goal weight for me is 225 lbs).

CLOTHING:

Pants:  Currently either a 16, 18 or 20 depending on brand, cut, etc. 18 seems to be the usual. I use to wear a 28.

Tops:  XL or 1X  (I was a 4 or 5X pre-surgery)

Dresses: 18's seem to work the best though I have fit comfortably into a size 16 (sadly the dress was WAY too short).

I have a hard time with pants/jeans at the moment because of all the loose flab around my waist/hips.  I carried most of my weight right up front so that seems to be where all the extra skin is which make pants fit weirdly.  Not too much I can do about that.  Weird fitting pants it is.

Now that the hell winter seems to be on it's way out, I'm getting outside and walking more.  I will be adding cycling and some light weight work to that (got messed up shoulders so nothing too cray-cray with the weights).  I've never looked forward to getting out and being active before.  It's awesome.

Okay here are my stats:

Just had my 18 month surgiversary:

Pre-op:

Weight 275

Size 18-20 pants (that was old navy - the only regular store I could wear)

Tops size xl

Workout - 4-6 days a week at the gym and I don't have a car or TTC so I walk everywhere

Today:

Weight 150

Pants  - size 4  in  most stores/ jeans size 26 (true religion....a NSV for me LOL)

Tops - small to x-small

Workout - body pump at goodlife 2 days a week and volleyball one day a week. I also still walk everywhere and try to take the stairs when I can.

I still struggle with my weight as people say I look a lot smaller than I actually weight, but I have a lot of tonight and my word...body pump has tightened a lot of my areas forsure. I always remember that muscle weights more than fat and I try not to get overzealous about to much working out because I have had a reaction to not taking in as much and working out too much.

I do not restrict from my diet, I eat in small portions and remember to only get my extra carb days on the days that I work out.

Things are good, but still gotta get over the "fat brain" as I call it! LOL

Kelly if you are in the Toronto downtown area and would like to try this tonight class with me, let me know, I think you may find it helpful!!

Great post!!

Hi,

I wish I was but I am closer to Montreal just outside the border in Ontario.  Sounds like fun and I love your attitude.  I hope I can say I have done as well as you at 18 months.

Kelly
