Time of work vs. how much time you actually needed...

I have a desk job and work at a computer all day.  I do have to lift boxes of files from time to time.  I took 6 weeks off and I am so glad I did.  EI was a nightmare but other than that, I really needed the full 6 weeks to get my eating down pat and I was sooo tired after surgery.  I had partial surgery done February 4th, had a complication and had the surgery finished February 6th.  Because I got a "double dose" of anesthetic I think that why I was so tired.  I could not go more than 4 hours a day without having a nap.   So I would recommend that you take as much time off as you can, with the possibility of going back early if you want to and feel you are ready.

My surgon wrote me a note for 6 to 8 weeks which seems high when I look at how much time most ppl on here and other wls groups post especially US side (2 days to 2 weeks). I took 6 weeks off and it was probably this best thing I did for myself.

It allowed me the time to get through the food stages and be paient with myself And this new way of life! It allowed me time to begin good habits and a gym routine that I felt obligated too. The weightloss was happening  rapidly with all the attention I paid to it. I'm now 15 mths out lowest weight 161 lbs bounce between  163 to 168 lbs (5'7"). I have fallen in love with strength training/lifting and now gaining muscle  (but still can't Handel the scale going up Even if it is lean muscle mass.). I call that "fat girl problems" lol ( I didn't have this surgery to see a high number on the scale :P).

I don't think I could have lasted another week off at that point though.... I wanted to feel normal again and was excited to go back to work!

You need to take what feels right to you! Have ur surgon write u a good note which will allow you enough time. You will know when the right time to go back is!

Good luck!
