Smiths Falls, Dr. Muldowney???

Hi! I have been considering WLS for a long time. I have Dr. Muldowney for a physician and she is notorious for treating people badly about their weight. For instance she won't treat me during pregnancy because of my high BMI. I am just wondering if there is anyone out there who has been referred by her for WLS or if they have had to get a second opinion. Or if that is even an option. I have a BMI of 45.3. And I am currently pregnant so I know it will go up.

Any info out there would be great!

VGibs I think you should try and find another doctor.  That is terrible.  I know how hard it is to get a new doctor, especially in a small town like Smiths Falls but you could try going to a walk in clinic, or going to the Ontario Health Care Options website and see if they can direct you to someone new.

In the meantime, you could still ask Dr. Muldowney for a referral to the Bariatric Registry and see what she says.  If she treats you badly, you can also make a complaint to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

Thank you!!! I am thinking that if she does not refer me then that may the last straw for this doctor. I have looked into a new family doctor before but because I also have my 3 kids under her care it has been hard to find another doctor.
