Referral sent March 16th/2015

Hello!

Referral was sent in March 16th/2015 and as per my postal code my process will be through HRRH, I tried calling and E-mailing to see if they received my referral but can't seem to get any answer, there's an automated service on both ends.

Does anyone know how long it takes before you get a response?

Also do you know if HRRH moves the process much quicker then the other Hospital? and if not, do you know what other hospital has a faster  turn around time?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Give it a couple of weeks yet, then inquire again.  As I am sure you can appreciate they have 1000's of applications to work through.  Hang in there.  :)

I am going through hrrh also. For me it took almost 4 months from referral to orientation my Dr sent letter in on Oct 30/14 on Feb 9/15 I got a package with orientation date March 23/15.. You got while before you hear from them.. 

Hi Rita...it will be awhile before you hear anything from them..I am going through same clinic. My referral was July 4, 2014...orientation not until Nov 17...met surgeon just yesterday and my first appointments for Nurse , social worker and dietician aren't until June 8 2015. It is a long process! Take this time to learn all the you can about the procedure and the process...pack some patience the time for your orientation will come.

Thanks’ so much for your responses, I’ll  try to keep a positive attitude and in the mean time  I’ll try to gather as much information as I can so that by orientation day I’ll be a pro at this lol..

Your referral goes to the Bariatric Registry then to the hospital in your area. You can contact them to make sure your doctors referral was processed. It is after this that the hospital will contact you for orientation.

I just called and they said that it will take a month before my referral would be into the database. .

 

 

This is going to be a long process. I know it can seem frustrating but this is the time to start preparing for the new you. Read and learn as much as you can so you will be ready for the major changes that will happen in your life.

I went through HRRH, my timeline is in my signature. 

As a side note, though, HRRH had a bit of a backlog for a bit and I ended up having my surgery at TWH but all of my other appointments were HRRH. Good luck!

Hi Laura, my doctor sent in my referral at the end of January (I think January 29th) and I just got my package in the mail about a week and a half ago and my orientation is booked for April 20th. I spoke with my family doctor and asked him to refer me to a sleep clinic just in case this is requested by the surgeon. I know it isn't requested for everyone but I thought I'd get it done to speed up the process. I went for the overnight sleep test in Oak Ridges (I'm in Newmarket) and they told me it would be 6 weeks before the results are in. I'm glad I did it now. I have another appointment with my GP tomorrow to fill out the paperwork required for the orientation and to get blood work done. This forum is great. Read as much as possible and keep in touch!
