Hotel/Home etc. after Surgery ?
Good morning!
I have yet to get a surgery date, but I am trying to plan ahead on a few things. I'm a few hours north of Toronto, so I'll be looking into a hotel for a few nights immediately afterward, but wondering about after that. I live alone. Do I need to have someone with me at the hotel, and then at home? What are your thoughts or your experience?
Thanks & make it a good day!

I was very grateful to have my mom with me for the surgery and the week after. She was my nursemaid LOL. I don't know if it's recommended that you are alone afterwards, but your centre will guide you through that.

Hi Helna,
When I was discharged from Toronto East General, they wouldn't release me until my hubby came to the hospital to pick me up. I was ready to go at like 7 a.m. but my hubby couldn't come until around noon and that is when the discharged me. If you can have someone come to the hospital on your discharge date to take you back to the hotel, that would be best. If you could also get someone to stay with you for a few days, that would be even better. My hubby had to remind me to get up to walk, drink water and protein shakes and take my pills because for a few days after I got home all I wanted to do was sleep the day away.
Do you know yet what hospital you will be having your surgery at?

I also live alone, and didn't have anyone stay with me after surgery, and in my case, it was fine... They do recommend you have someone with you for a day or two, but this wasn't an option for me. Honestly, all I did was sleep anyhow.
