What are you eating/doing today? (Friday Junior)
Just like our plastics dates too! January, 2013
Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!
Funny, eh? Although all I got was a hysterectomy and a panni thrown in. Oh, and this lousy T-shirt. ;)

Sometime I wish I got that deal too. Just had another meeting about my girly bits. The adenomyosis is still there, but the fibroids haven't grown, so she's still not convinced I need a hysto. I had an IUD put in a year ago. Helped my ferritin along with infusions for a bit, but then i've been having new issues for three months now. So, she put me on estrogen for a short period of time. So far, so good.
I don't mind not having a surgery in 2015! :-)

Can't say as I blame you for that, I feel the same damn way and have a "Hospital-free for 2015" mantra. lol
I am beyond thrilled (and friggin' relieved) to have had the hysterectomy (I still have ovaries, everything else was yanked), in spite of the pure hell that I went through in the year following (that was not hysterectomy related). When I look back now at how I was being forced to live with the pain and horrendous continual hemorrhaging periods and hormonal-hell, I honestly don't know how I did it. Or how you continue to do it if it's anything like it was for me.

I was going through that monthly, then the IUD was inserted a year ago. Worked at the beginning. But then I've had a constant flow for the past three months. Once in awhile I would have one or two days of nothing, but normally something was there daily. So she put me in Esteogel for a month. Has helped so far!

While waiting for my hysterectomy, my gyn put me into medical menopause too. What a freakin' RELIEF that was! By the time I had surgery my fibroids had actually shrunk due to the medication and I wasn't constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop and having to spend time in the ER receiving blood transfusions. The shot really did put me into menopause though - I thought I knew what a hot flash would feel like until I actually experienced that burning inferno.

Oh, i'm not on Lupron, so i'm not in medical menopause. The IUD is progesterone. Reduced the bleeding quite a bit at first, then a constant, but lighter bleed for the last three months. So on estrogen to get that under control for short term. She says the IUD levels out after a year, and it's been just a year, so hoping the Estrogel for a month does the trick and then I go off it and maybe I'll have normal cycles for the first time in my life. Who knows?

Good morning everyone. I am a little late to the party because I slept in and had to rush out the door to go to swimming. Karen, Andrew is definitely a keeper, but challenge him to make healthier versions. Tammy you are doing great, and what a nice pharmacist. Barb how often do you fly back and forth to Florida in a year. And I want the plane the serves warm cashews and merlot. I'll be lucky to get a bag of pretzels. Pat, I hear you on the swimming, I am still not back to full on making waves and my muscles are protesting every day. I tried laps when I went away last week and that was really hard.
Went swimming this morning, and this afternoon I go to see my GP, then home to do more paperwork
