Is it normal to get a bit of hunger back after a month?

I don't have cravings nor am I starving, but i do get a bit hungry. I get full fast, eating about 5 times/day- very small amounts and about 450 cals/day. Getting more protein in now that I am on soft foods but just wondered if this is normal? No cheating or anything, I'm just not used to even feeling a tad hungry since surgery.
Thanks!
Hey , I'd say at this point , you'd need to up your calories and protien . You don't say how much protien you are getting in a day . This is probably why you're feeling some hunger if you're not consuming enough . At 450 calories a day ,unless all of that is protien shakes or meat , you're likely not getting enough in . If you can try and up it to 600 -700 . I still supplement in the morning with a protien shake . I have it in my coffee in the morning and fini**** off late afternoon with another coffee . It adds 30 grams of protien and 160 calories to my day . I find it helps me meet my goals . I'm a little over 3 months out now . I mostly manage 700 calories a day , and usually meet my own protien goal of 75 grams a day . I rarely feel hungry still . However , ever one is different . But yeah , I know it can be hard that early out but try upping your intake and see if it helps With the hunger . It sounds like you are doing great so far , don't be shy to add to your diet . Some good fats help too .
Good luck

Thanks!!! I mean I haven't lost anything in just about a week......it's so odd to me. I'm not discouraged b/c it's not like i'm at risk of going back to my older ways but I find it baffling. I'm probably about 36 grams of protein but going to add a shake, the dietician said I don't have to but i am going to......I think my body thinks i'm playing games and it's storing my 'bank' of calories I used to eat!
I'll keep you posted, thanks again!
It is hard to comprehend it , but honestly , it's completely normal , and a week is nothing really . Your body is going though some major changes right now and it needs a rest now and then to adjust . No loss in a week is absolutely nothing to worry about .
36 grams of protien won't help either with the loss . Really try to get more in and you'll see a result I'm sure .That and more water . I personally don't see anything wrong in adding a shake at this point . The goal is to get as much protien and nutrients in as we can while healing , which we are still . As far as I know ,there is nothing detrimental about the shakes so if it helps right now , add it . I'm sure at about a year out or so when our pouches can hold a bit more food , then yeah , maybe continually using shakes to meet goals may not be ideal . But I have read of others who are a few years out or more , still using them. And I dont see anything wrong with that .
Just keep doing what you are doing but try to add incrementally , protien , more water and calories . Again , some fats really help. I see a difference in adding fats , i think it helps me lose . And aslo ( sorry if this is tmi) i find the fats help me with bathroom issues !!! Everyrthing works so much easier ! Lol ! These next few weeks when you can begin to add more foods and so on , will all help in meeting your goals. The scale will move , that's a given . So just hang tight , it will all keep going the right way , enjoy it and keep us posted !
Good luck

No probs , I have been eating a lot of salmon and I'm not too shy to have some white sauce on it ,and I have had Hollandaise which I love . I've always loved avacado so that hasn't changed and I make my own guacamole to go with my lunches and dinner sometimes . I use olive oil and sesame oil to cook with and I will eat pork chops with the fat crispy on it. Eggs are great and I buy Balderson cheese from Costco , it's an old cheddar and it's so delicious . I have about 20grams of that most days . Either in an omelet or just a side to salad . Coleslaw is another fave now , with mayo . I swing between light Hellmans and full fat , just depends on what's left . Hubby loves his full fat mayo so I buy both . But I have no problem using the full fat either . Bacon is another treat I'll have on the weekend , 1 slice with a runny or poached egg is good for me. Im not sure about nuts and seeds yet ,but when I can I will add them . I like cashews and almonds and I'll be adding them in here and there .When I make chicken ,I'll be honest and say that I simply cannot resist a little piece of skin .
I have changed my diet in lots of other ways ,mostly the bad stuff . But I figure , these things are good in moderation . And my pouch is helping me with moderation . Simple carbs I have steered clear of since before Opti and I swear I feel so much better for it . I have no desire now to eat bread or pasta or rice . I'm not saying that everyone should , I'm sure a little of these things would be ok for lots of people , but for me , it's that slippery slope . So I'm just staying away .
Anyway , hope this helps , but again , this is just me and my opinion . I've had a few breaks in my weight loss which is normal , but since the day before opti ( November 25th last year ) ive lost 84 lbs !! So I'm really happy with that and I feel I've found my groove for what foods work for me . See what works for you individually , you'll be in a routine in no time . I don't feel deprived or that I'm ' on a diet ' . I enjoy my food and it feels sustainable for me .
Good luck dear xx

LOL....we have mu*****ommon....I actually don't believe in this no fat stuff, so I will use FF Hellman's, I too buy old Balderson- sooo good and cook with olive oil.....to be honest I haven't had oil in 6 weeks, very little cheese and mayo.....I've thought about adding guac and my dietician said it's too high in fat, but I said it's the good fat, so i think i will add a bit........ BACON!!!- you're a rebel...lol
No bread/pasta for me either, I'll stay away b/c I am satisfied.....you're right.....salmon!!! I know what's for Dinner Thursday!
Thanks again!
Hey Tbeau!
I am only 3 weeks out and I'm hungry. I average 900 calories a day and 105g of protein. I'm not certain there is any "magic" number of calories, the focus should really just be on your protein intake.
Not sure what your taste buds are like, or if you can stomach it, but greek yogurt has been my savior with regards to getting additional protein in throughout the day.
All of that said, I haven't lost an ounce in 2 weeks. I'm not gaining, just staying the same. I think my body is still in shock....lol
Mathematically, there is absolutely no way I shouldn't be losing...I'm just staying the course and eventually my body will catch up.

Hey SBQ, well that's funny you seem in the same position!!! I do eat greek yogurt, but again I can't eat that much but I do eat it. I guess my body is still in shock, thinking I'm playing games.....but I mean business so it will have to give in. I feel good, but was surprised at the stall so early in the game!!
I know the mathematical sense of it, it just baffles me.
I am doing shakes starting tomorrow, helping with more intake!!
