Thoughts? Apparently you take butter (I know right?) and blend it with coffee but I hear that others will use coconut oil. Is it worthwhile? Any good? Safe for RNY? I can't help but feel curious.. but also a little slimy at the thought! lol

It's not quite that simple, it has to be specific coffee and grass fed butter and then some sort of special MCT oil.  Of course everything but the butter has to be purchased from a specific company.  I saw an episode of Hawaii Five-0 recently where he did this so looked it up to see why. Both coffee and butter are safe so just depends if you want the calories it adds by using that amount of butter in a drink.

OK. I usually only dump on sugar. As I was doing the Whole Life Challenge, was was a stricter Paleo diet, I tried Bulletproof coffee. And I dumped. It was awful, and I didn't even drink the whole thing. I just did the grass fed butter, organic fair trade coffee, without the oil (as suggested, because it might be too much at once for regular people, I thought it might be too much for me too).

I lost a Friday night because of it. I know a few other Rnyers who have had no issues with it but wow, not for me!

Good to know, I think I'll avoid it too.

From reading up on it, the claims they make about it are nothing more than just that claims.  Nothing is proven.  Now if you want to have it for what it is, a fatty coffee and enjoy it fine but for the supposed health benefits of increased brain function, weight loss and such, I'd call BS on that part.  I'm sure it's delicious but what wouldn't be delicious with butter or coconut oil in it :)

I was hoping for the "kick" that the people I know in person have had from it. I was really tired (week one of the challenge, and before my infusions). Instead it totally backfired!! LOL

The liquid fat probably affected you like liquid sugar does.  Could probably eat the same fat grams in one serving but make it liquid and forget it.  I can't even drink a glass of cow's milk without getting sick and that's natural sugar so I sure as heck don't try drinking anything with added sugar.

Hi there....I am pre op and I have been following a low carb diet for awhile now. I drink bullet proof every morning 1 tbls regular butter, 1 tbls coconut oil, 1 tbls heavy cream and I packet of splenda. I like the taste and it does keep me feeling full and gives me energy. along with low carb foods. lost about 12 pounds since Feb 2,
Not sure I will be able to handle the fats after surgery. but I think it is helping me for now.

Your version of bulletproof :-) In the Paleo/Whole Foods world, it isn't Bulletproof, as you have dairy, and artificial sweetener. I wouldn't try this for a long time after surgery. Like a really long time. Also, you will be on decaf too yes?
