3 rd day of Optifast.... was it so hard the first time?
Hi, i'm on my 3 rd day of Optifast and it's soooo hard to get my 4 shakes a day in. I had the sleeve done back in 2011 and i did the Optifast back then too. 2 weeks of it. Now, I'm getting the roux-en-y done this March 26th and I have to do 2 more weeks of Opti again. But this time, it's sooo hard.... I'm not hungry for them, I could easily go with 2 or 3 a day but 4 is hard. I'm getting my surgery in Ottawa and I'm allowed chicken or beef broth, sugar free Jello, the Opti and lots of water. Is it because I still have some restriction from my sleeve that I'm not hungry for my 4 shakes? Plus, sorry if it's TMI, but the Opti gives me lots of diahrea.... is that normal? Didn't get that the first time...
Thanks
Anne

Hi Anne,
I've suffered with opti-trots as well. The Ottawa WMC recommended taking metamucil capsules to help with this. (I'm through there as well.) It actually works. I take 2 with every shake...which I have spaced out at 6am, 10am, 2pm and 6pm...that seems to work to get them in. I haven't even bothered with the broth and SF jello. If I waited until I was hungry, I wouldn't get all 4 in, that's for sure.
Good luck on the 26th!

Totally not advising against any centres plan, but I never got in 4 a day. I usually did two, I know, bad... And I consumed a lot of broth in between. Its probably why I didn't lose much weight on opti. Because essentially my body was starved.
Good luck, you can do this!
