Good morning and happy 13th! I'm absolutely wiped this morning - got home late from an appointment last night which threw my whole evening off and I ended up going to bed waaaaay too late. Bring on the coffee.

Work today, have to run an errand after and I think Andrew and I are going out for a bit to meet friends. Unless I can't keep my eyes open in which case driving is not likely advisable. ;)

8.5 years post-op

- coffee with cream x several over the day -

B - Premier protein shake

S - Greek yogurt, a few grapes

L - tuna salad, raw veggies and a couple of melba rounds for dipping

S - ham/cheese/pickle roll-ups (3)

D - 3 oz BBQ steak, 1/3 cup sweet kale salad, sautéed mushrooms/onions/peppers

S - likely just coffee/tea

Have a fabulous Friday!

K. :)

Was awake all night so hopefully a nap is in my future  Haven't had insomnia like this in ages.  Other than reading, I plan to do very little else.

B - protein shake

S - 2 poached eggs

L - greek salad, without feta, grilled chicken

S - kielbassa, cheese and pickles

D - steak, mushrooms, green beans.

Insomnia sucks! Funny how so many of us who post on this thread suffer from it - you, Barb, Kelly at times, CC sometimes, me.... perhaps it's all of us menopausal/peri-menopausal chicks.  I've been in a really solid sleep cycle for many months now but I think that is partly due to general exhaustion of being back to work full-time and also that Andrew sleeps over a lot (sort of like a security blanket lol).

How come you're skipping the feta these days?

If it's menopause or peri-menopause then it must have started in my 20's as that is when the insomnia was the worse  LOL

I have feta in the house but actually prefer the greek salad naked.  I sometimes add it and the olives, sometimes just the olives and sometimes neither.  I just like the greek salad dressing recipe that I always make and I find it doesn't need anything else in the salad most of the time.  When he's home, the feta always gets thrown in but since I make a big bowl every few days, I just take each portion out and then add in whatever each of us likes.  Peppers and cukes have been so nice lately that I haven't bothered with buying lettuce at all.  Just wish I could find some nicer tomatoes as I like roma tomatoes in it but they are more pink than red so have been using grape tomatoes but they are rather juicy and would prefer a meatier tomato but ripe lol

True about the insomnia - mine started in my 30s. lol

Finding good tomatoes is a bit brutal down here too. I tend to go for the on-the-vine or grape tomatoes but it takes a lot of picking through to find good ones.

Sure, this is the one that I sort of use but I don't really measure, I like to use fresh squeezed lemon and fresh oregano but this one is really good even if you don't alter. I use it when I don't have fresh lemons or oregano. I don't add sugar/sweetener as I like it really tart but the recipe does say to use if you want.

1/4 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
3 tsp minced garlic
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp dried oregano
salt and pepper to taste
1 tsp sugar or splenda

Mix the dressing up first and let it sit at room temperature so the oregano leaves can absorb some of the liquids.

Yeah, I have always found that rewarding my good eating habits by indulging in my bad habits always ended badly. lol  That kind of behaviour and thinking is something I did regularly when I was morbidly obese and completely cut out when I had surgery 9 years ago since doing what I always did pre-op obviously wasn't working. lol
