Black Cohosh - Menopause
Hi Everyone
I haven't been around for awhile so I'd like to apologize if this topic has been recently covered.
I am not sleeping very well. I may get 4 hours in and then I bolt wide awake, usually sweating.
I have had a few flashes (although it's more like a wrapping instead of a flash). A few times I have gotten an overwhelming feeling of weakness...like I gotta sit down now feeling. I get shaky but not nervous...just weak.
What did you take? My Mother took black cohosh and I am not sure if it's safe for us.
Any advice is appreciated!
Hi Sunny,
We have missed you! I was lucky I did not get hit with all the bad menopause side effects. May I suggest you post this on the Weight Loss Surgery 50 and Over
Good Luck!

I think I'd contact your centre and ask but for only one reason. It says that if you are allergic to ASA, not to take it and since ASA is not approved for RNY, it might be a no go as well. A pharmacist may know even better so if you have a good one and trust him/her, I'd ask them even before the centre as they are usually far more knowledgeable about drugs and supplements than nurses/doctors.
Hi Sunny, I take borage oil for menopausal and hormonal problems and my centre did not have any issues with me taking them. Not sure how well it is absorbed but it seems to help. I am only 39 but have had menopausal symptoms since I was in my early thirties. If you do not mind letting us know what your centre says about taking black cohosh after surgery that would be great. Really happy to see you post, have missed your comments. Take care.
