OPTI DAY ONE
Picked up my OPTI from Dr Hagen's office yesterday and glad I made that decision. Was contemplating trying the COSTCO shakes but after thinking about it carefully I chose to go with what the DR recommended, he is after all the doctor and would know what is best for me.
I picked up some goodies at Wallymart too to spice up the shakes, extracts, crystal light, kool aid and MIO all sugar free of course.
Picked up a couple of cucumbers, some clear Campbells broth (Beef and Chicken) and sugar free jello.
Not sure if we are allowed to eat anything else but if we can, please let me know.
I'm feeling a little light headed but managed to take a tylenol (regular) as soon as it started and that has helped some. I figure it will be due to not getting the regular caffeine/sugar that I would get in the morning with coffee and breakie...
So...day one is okay, looking forward to day 2, 3 and so on.....
Now, due to all the confusion at the office yesterday I wasn't sure if I was advised to stop at midnight before surgery or the day before surgery (taking the OPTI that is)
Surgery is on March 24, two weeks today!!!
Cheers

Good for you for following the surgeons recommendations. There are many documented studies on optifast, hence the reason for utilizing it. We had the same surgeon, so we can have up to 2 cups of cucumber, celery & bell pepper. I would use my broth & make soup. I used lots of flavourings with the vanilla. Good luck, day 3-5 were my worst. All the best, keep us posted.

Congrats! The time will just fly by. Day 4 will feel like magic :) You will be over the "hunger". Keep your eye on the prize.
I managed to lose 19lbs while on the Opti...followed the Dr's orders to the tee.
I was advised to stop Opti midnight, the night before surgery.
All the best!!
Tracy
I don't think doing other brands of shakes is an option, as the Opti is formulated to be a complete package of what we need over a number of weeks. They want us as healthy as possible before surgery. Have they changed that since I did Opti more than two years ago? I just don't want anyone to get the message they can go their own route if they can't.
DD
No, the requirements have not changed. The only time something is switched out (as per the surgeon) is if a person is intolerant of the ingredients of Optifast (i.e. aspartame).
