Social Worker appointment question / TWH questions
Tomorrow is my first appointment since orientation. All of my paper work is in order and filled out. What happens at the social worker appointment? I asked my SIL who is a social worker (not bariatric though) and she said it'll most likely be assessing your support system and feelings ect. Anyone have insight on how this appointment will go?
I'm also hoping to speak with someone who can help me possibly jump on cancelled appointments. Anyone who went through TWH know who I should speak with? Should I just ask at the front desk? Is this something that could possibly be done when I'm there or should I strictly do that over the phone? I would think face to face would be better and the few times I've ever tried to call I never got a human, always voice mail. Any advise on this would be great, thanks!
Congrats on your first appointment.
I went through TWH and in my experience, the social worker appointment was good.
She basically was assessing my support system, my ability to pay for the Optifast and vitamins that will be required for life, and my understanding of the lifestyle changes that are necessary to be successful.
Every single one of my appointments were cancellations, surgery included.
You can call and speak to the front desk, or ask them when you are there in person.
They were very helpful for me :)
Good luck with your journey!

Deal with the front desk to book a cancelled appointment- either when you are there or by phone. Some are a little more friendly and helpful than others, but they do the booking. You may have trouble getting a live person on the phone, and they don't always answer voicemails either. Just be prepared to make 2 or 3 calls to get through. My experience has been that it is well worth the effort.
Good luck with the whole process and learn everything you can.
