Protein Powder as meal replacement.

I do it every morning, usually with a yogurt also, as 160 calories isn't much for breakfast (for me) at my stage post op.
I'm not a breakfast person either. There is nothing wrong with starting your day with a protein shake - I do that myself and it's served me well the past 9 years since my RNY surgery. I don't, however, consider my morning Premier protein shake to be a "meal replacement". It's my "starting breakfast" and I always have a mid-morning protein "second breakfast". I generally eat 6 small meals per day (or 3 meals, 2 or 3 snacks).
BUT.... all protein shakes are not created equally. Juicing and smoothies are NOT appropriate protein shakes, no matter how many scoops of protein powder you add to them. Way too many carbs and natural sugars.
My early morning protein shake really just sort of primes my stomach to accept real food a little later and it aids in getting my digestive system moving/burning.

I did protein powders for breakfast for years prior to WLS.
Now, post-op, I have protein powders for breakfast almost every day. Well, 5 days out of 7; I do them during weekdays for work (I have a long commute and crazy mornings mean that it's easy to drink the shakes in the car while driving). On the weekends, I try to mix it up a little and have eggs or maybe some oatmeal as a treat. Now and then...
