Ideas For Sides!

I love sides more than I like the main part of my meal! We eat tons of veggies, there's almost always a garden salad with dinner here. I love cauli dishes, you can make all kinds of mock potato sides with them (mashed, roasted). I also love pretty much all green veggies and the odd sweet potato. Tonight we're having sauteed green beans with a homemade honey mustard vinagraitte (made from good grainy mustard and splenda). Delicious and low carb.

The recipes forum has all kinds of ideas! I also recommend the blog Skinnytaste and the Looneyspoons books, I get tons of recipe ideas from there.

Right now, I'm on raw veggie kick.  Carrot and Cauliflower. I'm all about the crunch lately.

Yumm... spaghetti squash! cook in microwave for a few mins and then eat!! have also reheaded on the stove with garlic and some seasoning and added other veggies and it keeps well for a few days. My sister makes it for our family alot.

Just a girl trying to become a better ME. Healthier ME. Learning to be happy with ME and love ME. One day at a time.

I realized a LONG time ago that carb sides weren't helping me at all. So I eliminated them entirely. No potatoes (except on special occasions), no rice, no pasta side dishes (though I'd still devour a plate of spaghetti back then). I cut it all out and went to protein + veggies for my meals. If needs be, I would do two veggies or one cooked veggie plus a salad with my protein dish.

It seemed to me the best way to get rid of the starches that weren't doing a thing for me anyway.

That served me well post-op. Now I don't have a problem at all foregoing the carbs that everyone else is having. Protein + veggie it is!
