Was at TWH all day yesterday for my two year follow up appointments was not wanting to go because of my 20 pound weight gain but I went because I know how much me going and the data that is gained from our appointments helps others after us going through the process.

Well my blood results all came back great except for my vitamin d is lows so have to increase my vitamin D.

We discussed my weight gain and what I am going to do going forward I am going to start tracking again increase protein and send the dietician my logs every week for her to review, I am also getting on the list for CBT.

All in all I came out of the appointments feeling great and feeling I can get back on track and lose this 20 pounds I have gained.

Just want everyone to know if you are slipping there is always help from the team of your centre.

Have a good day everyone

Lynn

Great post, Lynn. I especially liked your point about contributing to the data collection to assist others after us - if they don't know the success/level of success rate, they can't create and provide the necessary tools to implement for others in the future. I'm really impressed with the level of support you're receiving with respect to accessing the dietician weekly with your food plans and the opportunity to receive CBT through the centre - awesome. Also, I'm impressed with YOU for going to that appointment despite not wanting to due to weight gain!

It was great talking to you last night. Going to your appointment and not avoiding it because of the gain shows how determined you are to move forward. Taking advantage of all the resources, I believe, is the key to long term success. Take care.

Awesome! Glad to hear you still went and came out feeling great!

I believe they said that 50% of patients don't return after their 2-year appointment. We signed up for 5, so I don't understand why people don't go.

Weight gain is common, and as you said, you talked about how to go forward to get your 20 pound regain off and felt great when you left. Nothing to fear about having to own up to weight gain. They are there to help, not hinder your journey.

Congrats on your two years!

Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!

Thanks everyone for your support it has been very helpful for me and Kelly a big thank you to you because it was something you said to me that made me go into those appointments yesterday knowing I was going to come out of there with a plan.

I totally believe that going to our appointments are key for long term success and for OHIP and the centre to gain information from us so they can improve the process and what the needs are of baraitric patients plus OHIP needs the stats to keep funding the surgeries.

Yes sometimes it a hassle having appointments cancelled etc. but you just make a new one and attend because you may feel at first that you don't need to go I got this in the bag because weight is coming off and I am doing everything thing I am suppose to. However, what we may not understand is that down the road hunger comes back and we can fall back into old habits which I did and gained 20 pounds and that 20 pounds next year can add up to 40 pounds if I didn't get help from my centre.

One thing we may not know is that unless we advocate for ourselves some times the centre don't tell us about all the support they have so if you need support go to your appointments an ask.

Again a big thank you to everyone and Karen I hope to meet you some day soon because you are a big support on this forum.
