Hey CC..glad you are graduating to a cane.  It sounds like you are progressing pretty well.

Just wondering if the Fibre crackers were a suggestion from the nut at Guelph.  When I had my 6 month they wanted me to add more fibre and carbs and recommended the finn crisp crackers.  Every time I eat a cracker I hear Karen's voice in my head...CRACKer.  But thanks to Zizzlers psyllium wraps, I have cut down on ww wraps and use them exclusively, which helps.

If you go to Florida, I will ask you the same question you have asked previously...Can I be your valet? lol

Take care CC,

Vicky

Hi Vicky.  The crackers were my idea because I find I get hungry late in the evening and they seem to fill me up before bed.  They are 70 calories for 30 crackers and I will only have 6.  I have been trying to cut out sweet things, because I think they have been triggering me to snack more.  My NUT did talk to me about fibre because constipation has been an issue for me (sorry if that's TMI).  She suggested bran buds or bran flakes.  She said Metamucil is not allowed but couldn't find out why.  She wants me to drink less coffee and drink water with lemon instead, also add more fruit and veg.  I'm OK with adding the veg, but fruit can also be a big trigger for me.  Those psyllium wraps sound good, and filling.  When I am back in the kitchen, I will make some.  Right now DH is doing the cooking, so I'm at his mercy.

Thanks CC.  I just find I get confused with what Guelph tells us and what the vets say.  I did read a thread recently where someone said that the nuts have to follow the food guide, so it makes sense why they push some carbs.  Those wraps from Zizz are really easy to make, great as a crepe, or a wrap and they contain psyllium which helps with the constipation.  When I had my petersens hernia (bowel) in October, I got really backed up, and the nuts recommended fibre 1 etc as well, but I find when I have cereal it makes me crave cereal...so I put a stop to it.  The nurses at the clinic also recommend Restoralax, but it didn't work for me.  Anyway, enjoy your cane, but please be careful and don't push yourself too hard.
