# my 600 lb life....I thought Penny was bad....

Jus****ched Pauline's story.....in short, Penny looks like a rockstar compared to Pauline.   That's my opinion anyway. Doc Now sent her home to lose some weight on no carb diet......she gained 4lbs.     She loses on diet in hospital because she has no choice but post op refuses to walk and refuses to get weighed when Doc Now requests it.    She's a cry baby and her poor son doesn't know what a normal life is.  She actually says ouch when the nurse puts the rubber band around her arm in prep to take blood.   Really?

SMH. Can't wait to see how this story turns out.

Have a great day!!!   :)

WATCHED it last night was shocked with whining to the Dr. and when he says here comes the tears you would think she'd smarten up. It makes me wonder how they get the surgery so easily when we have to jump through hoops to get ours. I also thought Penny was bad with her lying but Pauline was a bigger cry baby than she was what a waste of the Dr. time and effort when he was just trying to help her.

I had read that for being on the show, their medical expenses are covered.

More than anything, it was sad that her son has been put in that situation of being her caregiver.

In the States, they pay for their own surgery or their insurance does.  If insurance pays, I'm sure they make you jump through hoops.  But if you pay, why would they say no?

I watched too and I felt sad. She thought this was going to be a magic wand. I think the process here in Ontario serves two purposes. 1) since this is covered by ohip, they want to have a high long term success rate. 2) by educating the patient and providing various support systems, they are trying to help the patient, achieve goal #1 and avoid the future health care costs.

If there was no screening process, you would see a lot of failure. I don't see Dr Now providing any sort of counselling to these patients. If Pauline doesn't "get it" soon, she will die. That's very sad.

For sure there is a certain amount of empathy for her but Dr Now had her pegged when he called her a "manipulator".     Obviously there is a lot not shown....on both sides however who do you know who has physio therapists sent to their home and they get turned away.    You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

I'm not sure if this will post to the discussion or just to the person who commented her but here goes.  I felt exactly the same way.  I was yelling at my tv when I watched Penny but after seeing Pauline I wanted to punch her in the face and shake her.  She's been given such an amazing opportunity and just wasted it.

I'm anxious to see an update of them both.

Obviously it's extremely hard to do but did they even try?

I think that depends on your definition of "try", or more accurately, your version versus the definition and description that both P & P would likely give.  They are masters of manipulation with a sprinkle of learned helplessness and a generous helping of cognitive distortions. I find it interesting that the series seems to be including more people with such deep mental issues, but I can only assume that is for ratings. It certainly is a solid testament to "surgery fixes your gut, NOT your head" and the need for cognitive and behavioural change/learning along with WLS.

Tears, refusal to be weighed (hello????), refusal to walk, excuses, manipulation, refusing post op treatment plans, trapping her son.....all traits of a true addict.   The only one she is truly manipulating is herself in the long run.   It is sad in that there is someone else out there who would give everything for the surgery and she has had it and is blowing it.     I really hope they do follow up shows on both Penny and Pauline and that somehow someone gets thru to them and they get the wakeup call they need to turn things around for them and they both move on to being LOSERS!

Have a super great weekend everyone!

You said it.  That's for sure.  I love the way you worded it. You really have a terrific way of writing.  Do you have a blog?
