One month appointment
Yesterday I had my one month appointment at TWH. Everything went well and I am recovering at a good phase. It was a group appointment with dietician and nurse But there was somthing that really shocked me and I thought I share - there was a girl who was in her week 5 - was very proud of telling everyone that had started going out with her friends ( which is great) and had already tried burger and a slice of Pizza - really??????? And here I am on a pureed diet and being very careful as to what I eat. I was just shocked. Eating junk already..... ????? Do some people not understand the importance of this tool?
Wow! I'm not surprised that you were shocked! I'm still on the full liquid diet and can not imagine eating those things anytime soon. My first follow up appointment is tomorrow and I wouldn't want to tell the nurse that I had eaten anything like that. I would be so afraid to stretch my pouch or be in pain because it's not ready to handle certain foods yet. Guelph recommends no red meat for 6 months.
Glad to hear you appointment went well! Take care...Kim
Unfortunately there will be some people who didn't pay attention at the orientation and fail to realize that the surgery isn't going to make you promises of losing weight, a large percentage of it is your mindset and making the right decisions.
I had stomach stapling years ago, early 90s and there were no educational classes, to make things worse the surgeon who performed the surgery lost his license (for other reasons) within a couple of months so, I was pretty much left alone especially having no support from anyone in my family (I have all their support now, luckily). I figured okay I can do this and started looking for foods that would melt and go down easy, sadly alot of these foods were cheesies, chips, ground beef, ice cream...never the right foods and over the years I hurt only myself, I suffer daily and have suffered for over 10 years with stomach, bowel, esophagus issues and now, I have been given a second chance through a revision with Dr Hagen, this time, I also know what needs to be done and I'm in the right mind set, knowing I will make the right choices.
