When to expect first round of appts after orientation?
Hi, it seems as though hospitals within blocks of each other structure WLS pre-op much differently. I see others at TWH who get their first round of appts at their orientation while it appears at HRRH where Im going through this system - does not give first round of appts at orientation but rather just wait to hear. I like the time I have to prepare and research but it would be nice to have an idea of when I might expect to be seen? Is this how it has been for others at HRRH or other Toronto area hospitals?
Hi LukesMom;
I'm thru HRRH. I had my orientation Sep. 9/13. I think they say you will hear from the clinic about 3 weeks after that for your appointment dates. It always seems like all you do is hurry up and wait, but I have to say, if they were giving out appointment dates at orientation it would have taken FOREVER with the amount of people there.
So I had my orientation in Sep. Then at the beginning of Dec. were my appointments with SW, NUT, and RN.
Hope that helps! :)

My cousin is now going through Humber. We went to her orientation September 26th. She didn't get the call until the 2nd week of January to meet the surgeon on January 26th. Her next set of appts are in April and finally Dr Glazer in July. She called quite often and it still didn't speed up the process for her. I've heard they are dealing with October still.
Good luck with your journey :-) I went through Humber as well. It's a fantastic hospital!
No problem. I was lucky weather wise for all my appts. They took place between November 2013 and February 2014. Thank goodness nothing was scheduled during the ice storm!! Now when I went 2 weeks ago for my year check up we had to detour and take the 407 in as some.of the 401 was shut down. I got there a little late but I made it and they were very accommodating. I just called to let them know the situation.
If I were you after 4 to 6 weeks if you haven't heard from them maybe just give them a quick call to make sure they haven't misplaced you...I've heard that it can happen. Not trying to scare you....just to give you a heads up :-)
