I always wondered, taking in 900 cals a day on Opti, how come the weight doesn't majorly fall off like it does right after surgery??? Calories in/calaories out, no?
I hear some ppl lose 8 lbs, some much more....but if it's 900 calories, shouldn't that mean there should be no plateau for anyone sticking on it? I understand everyone is different, but I've always wondered
I'm on a diet of 600 cals a day and been stuck for over a week at the same weight. I guess it depends on your body. Historically my body resists losing weight and it could mean something else is going on. Frustrating for sure.

I'm on day 2 of Optifast...I was 5.4lbs lighter this AM than I was yesterday. I'm sure a lot is water, but hey, I'll take it :)

Everyone one of us have different metabolisms. Someone at 35 or 40 will not lose the same at 60. Also some people start dieting before they go on opti so they have already lost their excess water weight.
Also I lost about 15lbs on opti and gained it back in the hospital when they pumped me full of fluids. I became dehydrated on opti. I lost it fast when I got home
Try not to compare yourself. As for stalls , they happen to everyone especially around 3-4 week mark. This will pass. Take your measurements before surgery. Often people lose inches as their bodies adjust to the lower calories.
Good luck
When we're taking in less than 1000 calories a day I really think it depends on how rested we are, how hydrated we are, how much energy we use, and what our body is used to. My body is used to yoyo dieting, which I think is why I only lost 6 lbs on 13 days of Optifast.
To find out what it take to maintain mulitipy your starting weight by 10. Then subtract 900 and multiply that by 1400. Divide that amount by 3500.
If you maintain at 2500 calories a day and reduce to 900 calories a day for 14 days, you should lose 6.4 pounds.
If you maintain at 5000 caloreis a day and reduce to 900 then would lose 16.4 pounds.
This is not exact science, just a rough estimate.
