St. Joseph's appointments - progress!

Since my last post about my frustration about making appointments with St. Joseph's, it was nice to know I wasn't the only one, but really disheartening at the same time.  I was able to finally get a hold of a (live) person and from that I now have my internist and social worker appointments next week. AH!  It seems like it all will be a bit backwards since I haven't done the gastroscopy or sleep study yet, but I'm glad that my pestering ways worked.  The person I spoke to has forwarded my complaint to her manager and apologized many times for it, so I'm glad to see they at least took some responsibility.

Hope everyone else hears back, keep at them!

Just a heads up.... I contacted my family doctor and scheduled those things as soon as had orientation and that got me through the appointment stage really fast as they had everything they needed for the internist and the surgeon.  Not sure when your appointments are or how quickly they can do your testing at St Joes, but you may want to give your family doctor a heads up, maybe start a referral through them.  If they can get you in faster at St Joes or want you to go there, you can always cancel the other testing?

I was able to have my other tests scheduled through my GP right after the first appointment because I live so far away from the hospital.  So I'm waiting for those in the next two weeks... thanks so much, that's something I wish they would tell everyone at orientation.  It would be so much easier to do it over the wait time instead of now when I'm taking so much time off of work all so close together.

I totally agree. I contacted my family doctor and he set me up with the gastroscope (I had it about two weeks after meeting my family doctor) and had my sleep apnea test about a month after. My family doctor knew of a doc who came from Sarnia to London once a month and he got me in right away for the sleep test. This really helped move my process along with St. Joes!! Good luck!

Thanks for the encouragement! :)

Throughout this whole process my GP has been the best part about it.  Can't say the same for St. Joes... more of a headache than anything else
