St Mikes Scheduling.....question

Is there anyone currently scheduled for surgery at St.Mikes?

I have received the appt to meet my Surgeon Dr. Grantcharov, but I am wondering when they're booking surgeries?

TWH are booking surgeries for April/May

TEGH are booking surgeries for August

Looking forward to any reply/info.

Sorry don't have an answer but wondering how you know when the other hospitals are booking surgeries?

Info from OH friends re: TEGH & I asked TWH.

I had grantcherov in 2013, my turn around was pretty quick, met him in September, had surgery in October. 

He's a great surgeon, and the staff at St. Mikes were amazing!

I initially had Dr. Grantcharov assigned for my surgery and I called his office (found the number on the internet) back in the beginning of December 2014 to find out when they were scheduling surgeries and was told it would be at least April or May 2015.  I called my nurse practitioner and let her know about the wait time and she helped me get my surgery moved over to TWH (where I'd been going all along) and my surgery was in January 2015 instead.  

I found through this WLS process that it was important to speak up and advocate for yourself, in a respectful manner of course.  The squeaky wheel sometimes gets the grease more often.  Good luck!

Thank you for your reply.  I agree 100% that we need to advocate for ourselves and even more importantly in a respectful manner.  I understand that we are all in the same boat, eager to have the surgery done and get on with it.

One of the reasons I value this forum is being able to get answers from peers to all sorts of questions and saving the big ones for the team at TWH.

This is one of the ways I found TWH so amazing.  I feel that they really try to help their patients have the best WLS experience possible.

I don't have an answer for scheduling, but I had Grantcharov for my bowel obstruction, and he was fantastic. Just wanted you to know!

Just so your aware, got my surgery date today for tegh and its april 15th.Surgery has to be within 3 months and if not call TWH and they will book u in there.
