My last appointments are booked!

Had my Nutrition Group appointment today at TWH.  It went well and was very informative.  Got to try Optifast which is gross, but I'll deal with that.

I also got my Psychometry and Dietician appointments booked.  The lady at the clinic said that would finish me off on May 10, 2015 putting my file to the group shortly after.  This is amazing news!  I hope to have my surgery sometime in the summer!!

What happens at the Psych and nurse appt?

The nurse appointment was pretty quick and straight forward.
She will ask a lot of questions outlining your health history.  She checks your vitals and does a little pushing around on your abdomen.
If she believes you require further tests, they will be issued.  For example, I had to have a swallow and a scope.  Some folks need the sleep test.  She also sent me down for blood work before I left, as well as a urine test to prove I had quit smoking :)

The psych test is a bit longer, or at least it felt that way.  It is basically just a conversation about you, your past, and perhaps any triggers that have made us the way we are.  This is obviously very unique for each patient.  It was basically just a conversation.  She does ask some deep personal questions, but nothing that was unbearable.

Can I ask in your case, why a scope was required?

I have a lap-band.  They will be removing it at time of surgery, however, in order to make that decision they needed to see the state of my stomach.  In some cases they prefer the band to be removed, patient to heal, and then do the RNY. 

Other reasons for a scope might include a history of acid-reflux / ulcers, etc.
