Got a date - for about five seconds

Went in on Friday and was told before the doctor came in my date would be April 21. That was nice but it didn't last

Surgeon associate came in and on further review decides I need a scope. Super apologetic, as I've had many let's say "bumps in the road". So I have to do that in late March, followed up with what is now my 3rd surgeon appointment in early April. If all goes well I'll get a date then, or I may have to get medication for ulcer/H Pylori and then wait for a follow up scope, back to the surgeon, wash and repeat.

Just a reminder to all the extra-newbies that you can get as many cancelled appointments as you like but the process is going to take as long as it's going to take! Everyone at TWH was super nice and tried to get me the earliest appointments available, I told them all that it was fine, I'd rather they be thorough. It has now sunk in, I am not the captain of this vessel, lol.

So from my first referral to my next surgeon's appointment will be a full 3 years of this process! I will definitely not be celebrating with cake

Hey Kate that's disappointing... But,just wanted to ask if you're getting the scope done at TWH?  THey do them once a week...

I needed one and the date was supposed to be feb 21st.  I said no way was I waiting that long so I asked my family doctor for a referral to a fabulous private clinic in Vaughan. I got an appointment with them the same week. A b

very good e oriented, they do put you under so no worries.  They give you the results right her, test you for h pylori and Bing bang done!  as long as you have one done , the surgeons are good because the Dr who does the scope will send results.

If you do have HP. you take meds for 8 Days which should clear it.

Fyi.. I had my surgery on Fen 2nd and didn't ket anything slow me down!!!!

Hope this helps!  Good luck!

Thanks for the info Rose! Did the private clinic you go to cost out-of-pocket? I don't have private insurance right now, just OHIP

Sorry Kate I forgot to include the price...only $60.  It was the Vaughan Endoscopy Clinic at HWY 7 and Weston.  Well worth it. I just got hat out of the way and it didn't slow me down.

My process from beginning to end has been 4 years.  I too had H Pylori which involved antibiotics and a follow-up scope.  I'm finishing 4 weeks of Opti tonight and will have surgery in the morning.  Hang in there, it seems like a long road but you will get there and everyone will be there waiting for you.

Thanks Kate.  It was very much mind over matter.  After the first two weeks, both my mind and body were used to the change!

Well, at least you've got a great attitude about it, Kate. Cripes, after this long, what's another couple of months, eh? lol

Heh, my future stepmother-in-law insisted that having surgery in the winter is incredibly dangerous (she's from a warm climate), so at least she'll be happy about it.
