Hello Everyone

I need some help getting back on track. I had my RNY surgery in Toronto May 2012 and it was an absolute life changing success!

I lost almost 140lbs. Now I am gaining weight!!! I would fluctuate 10lbs from my lowest and that was ok, now I am fluctuating almost 20 and worried it is going to increase. I am feeling hungry a lot and can eat almost regular portions of food .

This scares me, for so long I rarely even thought about food at all!

Really feeling out of control. Any suggestions or comments from anyone who has gained some and then put themselves back on track successfully very much appreciated!

Thanks

We all seem to gain some back.  If you are not measuring your food than I would start measuring your food and tracking your calories. My Fitness pal is a good one to use. There is also on this board what are you eating today. You plan out your meal post it and people are willing to help you with changes that need to take place.

You have not said if you are exercising. If you are than maybe what you are gaining is muscle. I know that I have put weight on the last month but I have increase my strength training.

You can get back on track. Just remember the basic. Protein first than vegies.

Good luck

Back to basics. As Barb mentioned, protein first. Dense protein like chicken breast, before you eat any thing else on  your plate. You have stopped malabsorbing, so things are harder now. We gain easily. A lot of people have bounceback of around 10 pounds. And then some take it off again further down the road, the body keeps changing after surgery, it's fascinating.

Move your body lots, drink lots of water, measure and write it down (myfitnesspal). We have the tool, and now we need to really work it!

Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!

Definitely back to basics.  Step 1 being journaling. Write everything down.  After a few days or even a week, take a look at what you are doing and see what needs to be changed to get back on track.  Then change one thing at a time.  And check your water levels, could be why you're hungry.
